Yu Yu Hakusho: Slugfest relives the classic anime across a cel-shaded RPG, coming to iOS and Android soon
  • Officially licensed with original voice cast
  • Collect iconic characters from the anime
  • Relive memorable moments from the show

If, like me, you've always been a fan of endless anime tournaments where one character has to explain all the moves in the sidelines even though they're not the official commentator (because of course there's an official commentator), then it's time to drop everything you're doing because Yu Yu Hakusho: Slugfest is now very much a thing. Coming to iOS and Android, this officially licensed RPG will relive the classic anime in a handy mobile form, and my only question is why in the world it had to take this long for this to become a reality.

If it's not obvious from my long-winded intro, Yu Yu Hakusho was a massive fave of mine growing up, so to hear it finally getting a mobile offering is music to my ears.

Even just the official screenshots via the store pages are enough to get me hyped. I mean, it claims to recreate the world of the show faithfully but with cel-shaded visuals, offering a fresh way to re-experience the team's misadventures in the demon realm.

And speaking of the team, you can collect not only the main protagonists but also the big baddies and add them to your roster, from Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama (yay Kurama) to Younger Toguro, Sensui, and Yomi too.

Combat looks to be a strategic turn-based affair, with team synergies you can maximise as you make your way up the aforementioned Dark Tournament. There's a PvP/GvG mode too, by the way, if you're eager to prove your lineup's strength against other players.

The best part of it all is that, thanks to the official license, the original voice cast will be reprising their roles here, so it's bound to bring on all the nostalgia if you too rushed home from school to catch the show in the early 90s like I did.

In the meantime, you can also have a look at our list of the best RPGs on Android while you wait, or pre-register on Google Play and on the App Store to get first dibs as soon as it's out!
