  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel's Shadow Duelist 3 is none other than actor Dylan Sprouse
  • Sprouse was unmasked as part of the tournament, where he played the villainous Baron Bloodthorne
  • The tournament winner took home their custom, autographed mask as a trophy

The Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom is one which crosses gaps of time, gender and even nationality. Now, it seems, it crosses into the realm of celebrity, too! That's because Baron Bloodthorne, the latest Shadow Duelist in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel has been unmasked as none other than famed actor Dylan Sprouse in the finale of the Shadow Duelist tournament yesterday.

Dylan and his twin brother Cole are perhaps most recognised as the stars of the Suite Life series of sitcoms on the Disney Channel. But ever since both have branched out into their own respective careers, and for Dylan Sprouse, appearing as Baron Bloodthorne, this is par for the course.

Much like his voice role as elvish outcast Alith Anaar in Total War: Warhammer II, Dylan Sprouse gave duelists in the Shadow Duelist series a run for their money. Sprouse joined a list of other celebrities who had donned their own masks and aliases in order to compete with winners of the tournament.

Masking required

The two previous Shadow Duelists have been WWE superstar Xavier Woods and One Direction member Zayn Malik, both of whom sported their own mask designs. The winner of the tournament not only got the glory of unmasking Sprouse (as Baron Bloodthorne) but also received the mask as a trophy, with an accompanying autograph from the actor.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, of course, needs little introduction as one of the hit mobile and console adaptations of the world-famous TCG. However, the Shadow Duelist series has proved a major fan favourite for this multiplatform card battler that has made headlines, and for good reason.

But it wouldn't be Yu-Gi-Oh! if it wasn't for one thing. No, not Edison or Speed Duel, but the ban-list! Yes, if you are planning on jumping into Master Duel, one caveat of playing at a professional level is that you'll need to familiarise yourself with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel ban list.
