Team17's surprisingly fun combination of plus fours and invertebrates Worms Crazy Golf has had its price clubbed down to 69p / 99c on iPhone, and £1.49 / $1.99 on iPad for "a limited time only".

Worms Crazy Golf takes away the bazookas, grenades, and cluster bombs of the original turn-based 2D strategy game and replaces them with 9 irons, drivers, and golf balls.

It also throws in some bizarre power-ups - such as the ability to reverse gravity - and some wandering old ladies that smack your ball with their handbags. Because it's like that.

Putting on a show

The whole thing sounds like it shouldn't work, but this unusual marriage of trajectory-based puzzling and Titleist golf balls actually makes for a rather entertaining and original spin on the classic Worms formula.

Team17 has also released an update to the game - which managed to sink a Pocket Gamer Silver Award on review - that reduces the file size of both the standard and HD version, despite adding even more comedy hats to the roster. Probably by using magic.

Worms Crazy Golf is available now on the iPhone for 69p / 99c [buy], and for £1.49 / $1.99 on the iPad [buy].
