Nothing creates quite as much anticipation and speculation as a new Nintendo console. The internet went into hype-mode months before the company lifted the lid on both 3DS and Wii U.

While we don't have many concrete details on their new platform to date, we do know that it will officially launch worldwide in March 2017.

We also know that the company will not be showing off the system at E3 next month. They'll actually have their most scaled back presence to date.

Finally, three games have been officially confirmed for the platform in Dragon Quest X, Dragon Quest XI, and the latest game in the Legend of Zelda series.

The rest is pure speculation, including this latest little nugget. Only, this time we think the details are quite plausible.

A new report is suggesting that this years' Tokyo Game Show will not only debut Sony's PS4.5 (codename Neo), but it will also be the first place we see Nintendo's new console, NX.

If true, this would be a huge boon for the Japanese Trade Event, and an unprecedented shift from E3 which is widely considered to be the world's premier games trade show.

Nintendo did unveil the Wii controller at the Tokyo Game Show, but the actual platform had already been announced prior to that.

The platform is interesting to us as it is being suggested it will adopt Wii U technology - turning the controller into a second screen - but offer much better remote capabilities, effectively turning it into a portable.

It also seems clear that Nintendo are not focusing on another dedicated handheld system with their recent shift to mobile, so this would likely serve as an all-in-one outlet.

Tokyo Game Show starts on September 15th, so we won't have much longer to wait.
