UMAI! is a new puzzle game in which you are a cute monster that eats sushi. It's heading to Android and iOS this Thursday.

It's a small game that will mostly have you chasing high scores and leaderboard positions. After picking your flavour of monster (grinning, rotting, a bat), its face will be plonked into the middle of a sushi belt.

By touching the screen, their incredibly long tongues will appear. With these tongues, they can scoop up the sushi. You can grab a single piece of sushi or you can chain together sushi of the same type for a bigger score.

There are six types of sushi here, one of which is a nasty chain-breaking type that you'll want to avoid at all costs.

Your biggest concern, mind, is time. A bar counts down how long you have left of that round at the bottom. You can increase its length and therefore your time by eating sushi.

The longer the chain of sushi you can string together, the more time you gain back. So, UMAI! is game of quick thinking and tactical gobbling.

It's a quick-fire puzzle game neatly presented in ultra low-res pixels and with chirpy little tunes by Acacio Ortas.

UMAI! will cost 69p / 99c when it surfaces on the App Store and Google Play this Thursday.
