Renegade Kid's Mutant Mudds was a bit of a mixed bag. We liked it, sure, which is why we gave it a Bronze Award in our review. There were a few issues, however, which meant we couldn't recommend it wholeheartedly.

Still, we've got high hopes for Treasurenauts, the cash-grabbing new game from Renegade Kid with the same retro style as its predecessor and some new co-operative platforming.

According to Nintendo Force magazine, Treasurenauts will hopefully be available in Q4 2013 on the Nintendo eShop. And as you might have guessed from the game's name, there's a heavy focus on loot here.

In Renegade Kid's forthcoming 2D platformer, then, you will grab gold and jewels as you jump. These act as your health, too. Take a hit and you'll lose some cash. Lose it all and you're done for.

As of right now, Renegade Kid has only revealed three of the eight playable characters. These are a ninja; an Indiana Jones-style explorer; and a masked warrior with a spear and a grass skirt.

Treasurenauts will reportedly boast local multiplayer, enabling you and a friend to grab gold together. It'll also contain a download play option for those without a copy of the game.

Treasurenauts is shaping up to be an interesting new take on the retro platformer. Here's hoping Renegade Kid has learnt some lessons from the development of Mutant Mudds. If so, we could be in for something truly special later this year.
