E3 2010: Sims 3 settling down on the 3DS
Woo-hoo!
One of the biggest selling series ever is heading to the 3DS in 2011. No, not Mario (although he is coming in the form of Paper Mario – this is Nintendo after all), but EA’s The Sims.
The Sims, for those that haven’t been near a PC or home console since Windows 98 was released, is a virtual doll-house in which the player creates living playthings, sends them to work, fosters loving relationships, and then traps them all in a room without a door and watches them slowly die.
That last bit is optional.
The Sims 3 for the 3DS looks to be based on the forthcoming home console release of game, coming as it does with the unique ‘Karma Powers’ not found in the original PC release.
EA has also promised face-mapping will make an appearance, although it doesn’t state which version this will appear in.
We’re secretly hoping this means usage of the exciting-sounding 3D camera the 3DS has to place your face on all the characters in the game before taking away the doors and watching them slowly die, but that might be just us getting over-excited.
The game is scheduled for release on the standard DS in the autumn, and the 3DS some time next year.
