Neverwinter Nights dev Ossian Studios finally ready to release The Shadow Sun on iOS this summer
Please shine down on me
It's been a long time since we've heard anything about Ossian Studios' Unity-powered iOS RPG The Shadow Sun.
In fact, back when we initially reported on it - October 2010 - one reader was curious as to whether it would support the (then new) iPhone 4.
But good things come to those who wait, and the action-RPG will be available for all sorts of iOS devices this summer.
And yes, it will work on the iPhone 4 - and 3GS too, for that matter.
Sunshine on my shouldersOssian Studios has a reputation for being a developer of quality RPGs, and has worked on two titles in the Neverwinter Nights Dungeons & Dragons franchise.
The Shadow Sun looks to combine elements of Conan the Barbarian with the eldritch horror of H.P. Lovecraft as players struggle to find the cause of a horrible supernatural plague afflicting the golden city of Shar.
Combat in The Shadow Sun is all real-time and will involve using a dozen different weapon types, flashy melee special attacks, and powerful magic spells.
Players will also be free to customize their character over the course of The Shadow Sun's 10-15 hour campaign. In addition to selecting the character's gender and appearance, The Shadow Sun allows players to choose from and develop 30 different skills to accommodate a variety of different playstyles.
We don't have a specific release date yet for The Shadow Sun, but we'll be sure to keep you up to date as soon as we know more.
