E3 2011: Tintin movie tie-in coming to 3DS

Intrepid reporter and second most famous fictional Belgian (after Hercule Poirot) Tintin will be gracing the silver screen in Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s comic book adaptation later this year The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn.

To tie in with the film’s release, players will have the opportunity to adventure through a multiplatform spin-off The Adventures of Tintin: The Game on 3DS.

Whilst movie tie-ins make a habit of stinking, we can’t help but remember that the last Jackson movie-inspired game was the generally awesome King Kong PS2 spin-off.

City of dreams

Tintin's game, meanwhile, will follow the journalist-cum-wanderer (and other characters from Herge’s comics) through the plot of the movie, which in turn is derived from a trio of Tintin stories.

Among the locations visited in the game are Haddock’s ship the 'Karaboudjan', Omar Ben Salaad’s Palace, and the city of Baghaar.

The Adventures of Tintin on 3DS will feature three game modes, including single-player, co-op multiplayer, and a competitive multiplayer challenge mode.

As for what we will actually doing in the game, Ubisoft reveals that exploration, puzzles, and combat will be the mainstays, with other elements like sword fighting, aerial combat, and driving coming into play, too.
