Terra Battle has been soft-launched in Canada by developer Mistwalker, which is led by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi.

It's a free to play social RPG that is based on the boardgame Shogi, otherwise known as Japanese chess or the "Generals' Game".

It's all about moving your randomly picked party around on a grid in such a formation that you can take down your opponents' pieces.

As we found out yesterday, Terra Battle has an energy system that limits the number of battles you can take on in a short period of time.

You can pay to regenerate stamina if you wish, but you're not forced to at any point. The game also requires an online connection to be played.

You can download Terra Battle for free from the Canadian App Store right now. We'll let you know when it's available worldwide.
