Super Cat Tales: PAWS, the next entry into the popular retro 2D platforming series, launches at last
The popular and adorable Super Cat Tales series has launched the next entry within its franchise; Super Cat Tales: PAWS. This new 2D platformer harkens back to the days of the NES platformers with some awesome pixelated graphics and excellent 2D action that is sure to delight and thrill in equal measure.
The Super Cat Tales series has been quite successful since the first game launched back in 2016. Now unfortunately tough to find in stores, the first entry featured some similar gameplay mechanics with platforming being the focus. Since then, the series has received one direct sequel and now a spin-off title with the addition of PAWS.
Mechanics have remained dialled in on one concept since that first iteration, and that’s tight and responsive 2D platforming with a lot of inspiration from older games like the classic Mario franchise. PAWS, however, takes that to the next level with a focus on pixelated NES-like graphics alongside some chiptune music to back up the soundtrack.

This makes for a very nostalgic experience that will bring you right back to being a kid in front of your old TV set, playing a classic on your NES. And you wouldn’t be too far off, as the game isn’t just fan service in honour of that feeling, but also directly takes a lot of mechanics from those sorts of titles.
Of course, beyond just being an excellently designed 2D platformer with that charming retro vibe, PAWS also gives you an adorable protagonist in the form of that pixelated cat who looks absurdly cute. All of these things make for a heartwarming and friendly experience that is a tad bit challenging but a lot more focused on letting you just enjoy yourself without too much of a headache.
