Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gets DS and PSP release date

It's one of the most intriguing sounding Star Wars games yet and finally there's a release date for it. LucasArts, publisher of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the game that lets you play as Darth Vadar's secret apprentice, has announced the game will be released on September 19th in Europe (and September 16th in North America).

As an entirely new chapter in the Star Wars saga – one that basically makes up its own story set someone in between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New HopeThe Force Unleashed assumes Darth Vader must have had a bit of help ridding the universe of Jedi and so makes up an evil apprentice. Who is you.

The game then apparently takes advantage of newly developed technologies seen for the first time, and has you assisting Vader and making decisions that could change the course of Jedi destiny. Ooh.

It's in development with Krome Studios for PSP, while the DS version is being handled by n-Space. Both handheld games promise to deliver the same storyline but offer opportunities to unleash the Force in devastating and unique ways.

Frankly, who doesn't like to play the bad guy every now and then? You'll get your chance in September. Click 'Track It!' to be kept up to date with new announcements on the game, which are expected in the run up to its release.
