Star Wars Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance coming to DS this Christmas

A few weeks back it emerged LucasArts was preparing to bring a new Star Wars game to DS, courtesy of a teaser advert on the back on the instruction booklet for Lego Indiana Jones.

Now the publisher has come out with more info about it, confirming that the game – Star Wars The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance – will be released exclusively on DS this Christmas.

The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance apparently enables gamers to experience the "awesome power" when two Jedi forces fight as one, and – more to the point – lets them engage in lightsaber combat using the DS stylus. The Jedi's movement are also controlled using the touchscreen.

"The intuitive and accessible gameplay on both the Wii and the Nintendo DS complement one of the most exciting Star Wars adventures yet," says red project leader Feargus Carroll.

Most exciting yet? You could argue that's not difficult. But, hey, we're not that harsh and we're certainly looking forward to The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance. We're not even jealous the Wii version, Lightsaber Duels, makes it possible for Wii owners to battle with their very own Wiimote lightsabers. Because the DS stylus has to be the second best thing a console can add to Jedi fighting.
