Fans of spiders, mayhem, and higher definition displays than a mobile phone (but not quite ‘HD’ in the TV sense) should be over the moon to hear that Gameloft’s ace action-adventure Spider-Man: Total Mayhem will be arriving on the UK App Store later tonight.

As far as comic-inspired games go, Total Mayhem is pretty much the best available on the App Store, with 12 levels, 20 combos, web-swinging sections through New York, and a whole host of familiar villains and characters from the Spider-Man universe.

Spider-Man: Total Mayhem completely sucker-punched Tracy when it was released on the iPhone with its fast-moving action and graceful control scheme, so that should make the lack of any unique features over and above the cheaper version easier to swallow.

Spider-Man: Total Mayhem HD will be available from midnight, GMT, and is priced at £3.99 / $6.99 / €5.49.
