Fighters to hit portable exclusively this year

Big name brawlers Soul Calibur, Tekken coming to PSP

Namco-Bandai will pummel PSP with a one-two punch later this year with the release of two new fighters, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny and Tekken 6. Both games are new iterations of their respective series exclusive to PSP.

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, which marks the first handheld outing for the weapons-based brawler, has been slated for release this summer. A roster of 20 characters, a few newcomers though most returning from the console games, will duke it out in a PSP-specific single player story mode. Head-to-head bouts via Ad-hoc mode (local wireless) are also being supported.

Tekken 6 plans on making head-to-head multiplayer a central feature as well when it translates the PlayStation 3 game of the same title to PSP. The autumn release promises unique stages and other content exclusive to the portable, as well as a new story mode mirroring the one developed for its big brother on PS3.

Both games are being handled internally at Namco-Bandai, the team responsible for earlier console versions of Soul Calibur handling the new PSP title and the core Tekken squad building the simultaneous portable release.
