Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 zips onto Windows Phone for £5.49
The ringing of green tills
Microsoft’s Must Have Games promotion for Windows Phone (sans ‘7’) continues in earnest with the release of Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 on the Zune Marketplace.
Sonic 4: Ep 1 (as I’m going to call it, for sanity’s sake) is a direct port of the mobile title that hit iPhone late last year - a completely new Sonic adventure that tries to recapture the magic of the original games.
So that means some fast-then-slow-now-fast-again platforming across brightly coloured 2D worlds, taking in some familiar sights along the way.
We were pretty pleased with the original version, giving the game a Pocket Gamer Bronze Award after getting to grips with the less-accurate touchscreen platform controls.
Alas, in keeping with most of the recent releases, Sonic 4: Ep 1 is priced at a whopping £5.49.
It's under half the cost of the Xbox 360 version, but still fairly pricey for a mobile title (the iPhone version retails for £3.99 in comparison).
