I've played Shadow Bug before. It's an impressive touch screen platformer that's all about ninja-ing your way through a series of bite-sized levels.

You press on the left and right of the screen to move around, and tap on enemies to dart towards them, swords drawn.

Bouncing from enemy to enemy is the only way to jump, so you need to be quick with your fingers to ensure that you don't fall into any of the pits or spikes that litter the play space.

The sharp bouts of violence add a frenetic verve to the experience, elevating the game above the standard tappy arcade action games that we've become used to.

Smash and grab quick-fire play, a lovely art style that merges colour and shadow into swirls of swords and beating wings, and short sharp levels that challenge your fingers to dance over the screen all blend together to make a game that enthrals.

This is a platformer with bite, one that fizzes and gnashes, cocky in all the right ways, familiar and fresh at the same time.

Let's put it this way, I was particularly disappointed when the dev took the iPhone I was playing it on away from me. Curse you hooter sound for ruining my fun.
