Everyone wants to get into mobile gaming.

It's especially the case for companies like Codenrama.

The Italian outfit creates photo-realistic videos for the film and advertising industries, and is now looking to demonstrates these smarts with debut iOS game Return to Castlerama.

Behind the curtain

The return element in the title follows on from the release of its tech demo Castlerama a year ago; it's been downloaded 300,000 times.

Return to Castlerama similarly takes the real location of Assisi, Italy, transforming it into the village of Castlerama, and the surrounding Gorendal valley.

Developed using the Unreal engine, the game combines its high-end graphics with a supernatural adventure that sees the player trying to lift an evil curse, fighting with enemies such as zombies and dragons along the way.

"Return to Castlerama is a game you can truly immerse yourself in. The puzzles are captivating, the action intense and the story full of intrigue," says artist Michele Böhm, one of Codenrama's co-founders.

"We wanted to capture the splendour of the Gorendal Valley and its countryside, but to create a chilling atmosphere behind that beauty as well."

Return to Castlerama will be released for iOS devices on 20 June.
