Gameloft's freemium soccer sim Real Football 2012 is on its way to the Xperia Play

Pocket Gamer has received word from Gameloft that its freemium footie game Real Football 2012 is coming to the Xperia Play.

Currently available for Android and iOS, this sports sim allows players to join an online community of football fanatics, sharing chat, pictures, videos, and even custom kit designs with your fellow gamers.

The official FIFAPro licence means that you don't have to endure matches playing as Wayne Mooney and Ryan Shiggs - thousands of real player names and teams are present and correct across 14 different leagues.

Extra time

When we reviewed Real Football 2012 back in December, we noted the game's poor opposition AI, and slow pace. Here's hoping that Gameloft has used the intervening months wisely, and made a few substitutions since then.

We also struggled with the game's touchscreen controls, but that's not something Xperia Play owners will have to worry about. Hopefully, we'll be able to enjoy silky smooth dribbling once the Xperia Play-optimised version of Real Football 2012 hits Google Play and the launcher.

There's no firm word on a release date yet, but we're expecting this match to kick off very soon.
