Puzzle Quest 2 coming to the DS in June
Confused heroes
The sequel to one of the most original genre mash-ups of recent memory, Puzzle Quest 2 has been confirmed as a June release for the Nintendo DS.
Puzzle Quest 2 looks to continue the successful formula of blending RPG elements into a match-three game that its predecessor started back in 2008.
This time, however, Infinite Interactive has scrapped the overhead map used to wander the world in the original, and instead opted for an isometric 3D angle much favoured by ‘proper’ RPGs.
Along with the change of perspective, Puzzle Quest 2 contains new weapons, monsters, and mini-games, but retains the core battle system of matching coloured gems for massive damage.
The original Puzzle Quest opened a chest and found a Pocket Gamer Silver Award inside when it was first released, so we’re looking forward to seeing how the sequel fares against the new competitors in the fledging genre like Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes.
