If you've ever had a passing thought about Pokemon getting a blocky treatment, you'll be pleased to know that Pokemon Quest is an action RPG you can start playing today. Grab it free on the Switch eShop. It'll make its way to iOS and Android soon.

Set on the colourful Tumblecube Island, Pokemon Quest is a free-to-start adventure where you can head out with your Pokemon pals and get into all sorts of mischief. Whether you're battling other Pokemon or questing for epic loot (to help modify them), it's fun to watch them scrabble around.

Its art style makes it unlike previous Pokemon games, making it seem more in the Minecraft or Crossy Roads category than your usual RPG. While you can't build anything or jump across roads, you can collect loot and use what you've found to lure new Pokemon in to befriend.

In its review we said, "It's almost instantly forgettable, but Pokemon Quest is a charming and enjoyable way to fill the time before the bigger games land," and gave it a respectable Bronze Award.

Though it's free to play, there are optional paid DLCs you can pick up ranging from $2.99 to $29.99, which you can see in detail here.
