Pix the Cat is a must-play mashup of beloved video game classics

What happened to the good old fashioned arcade games that kept you coming back to get a higher score than the last person who played it?
Fear not. Those days are back, thanks to Pix the Cat.
Now available on NVIDIA SHIELD, Everything about this game is geared around playing merely for the joy of playing.
Each single screen level presents you with a maze. By using the up, down, left, and right controls you collect eggs. Once collected they turn into ducklings that follow you around like a tail and you have to drop them off in the target squares.
It seems simple enough but as your trail of ducklings gets longer you have to avoid running into yourself. Add to that the fact that in later levels there are enemies and the whole thing turns into a nightmare of reactions, forward planning, and plain chaos.
The real genius of the level design is that the rewards become bigger the longer you persevere. By reaching certain score targets you unlock all manner of bonuses.
At the lower level you get to see developer artwork while higher up you can unlock new voiceovers. Instead of the arcade exclamations of “Combo” and “Fever” you can switch to a female robot voice among others.
Success also enables you to access more play modes like The Laboratory, which presents you with gentler, puzzle-based challenges that remove the time-limited stress of the arcade mode. Nostalgia, on the other hand, allows you to play levels with an old school thematic.
It’s an incredibly addictive and beautiful game that reveals more lovingly crafted details every single time you play it.
