Upon the release of Media Molecule's cutesy platformer LittleBigPlanet, many were instantly won over by the game's charming toybox aesthetic and adorable hand-knitted protagonist.

It seems that the team over at Crescent Moon Games was equally impressed, as its latest iOS offering Paper Monsters brings a similarly whimsical visual style to Apple's mobile platform.

Cast in Paper Monsters as a somewhat adorable cardboard robot, you have to make your way across a variety of colourful craftwork environments to prevent an evil papery overlord from tearing you a new one.

There are platforms to traverse, gaps to jump, springboards to bounce from, and power-ups to collect, all of which should leave fans of the side-scrolling platformer genre feeling immediately at home.

Unfolding before your eyes

Featuring a total of 16 levels spread across four worlds, Game Centre support, two different control types, and the chance to take to both the skies and the seas, Paper Monsters should keep you glued to your touchscreen until the very end.

That is, of course, unless you fold early. Ahem.

You will be able to find Paper Monsters for iPhone and iPad on the App Store from January 26th, where it will be priced at 69p / 99c.

In the meantime, cast your eyes over the trailer below for a glimpse of what Paper Monsters has to offer.
