Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced a limited edition of its handheld, which has enjoyed something of a revival in its home country since coming out in its Slim & Lite version a few weeks ago.

Due on sale from December 13th, the Deep Red model comes in two versions: a Value Pack (PSP, pouch, wrist strap, cloth and 32MB Memory Stick Duo) costing ¥22,800 (£95) and a 1-Seg Pack (which adds a 1-Seg digital TV tuner and stand, while replacing the Memory Stick for a 1GB alternative) for ¥29,800 (£125).

There are currently no plans to bring this latest version to Europe and we suspect we'll never see it over here (traditionally, Japan gets more colour versions of handhelds than we do in the west).

Which is a shame, because we think it's looking rather fetching.
