  • This week on PocketGamer.fun, we praise the presence of local co-op on mobile
  • We also celebrate the joys of digital pinball
  • Our Game of the Week is Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance

Regular readers of Pocket Gamer will be aware that we released a brand new website called PocketGamer.fun. It's a site we've made in collaboration with domain specialists Radix, intending to help you find your next favourite game quickly.

So, if you're looking for distilled recommendations, head over to the site, be greeted with dozens of great games and download any that take your fancy. Alternatively, if you're happy with a little more reading, we'll regularly post articles like this one to update you on what we've posted on the site in the last week or so.

Local co-op is alive and well on mobile

Some of my fondest memories of local co-op date back to the Xbox 360, gunning down the Locust horde in Gears of War or desperately trying to survive as long as possible battling zombies in Call of Duty: World at War. While that dates me a little, it also highlights that couch co-op has fallen by the wayside in recent times somewhat. That's partly because most people team up with their buddies online instead. Still, it's not quite the same as enjoying a game in person. The good news is there are local co-op games on mobile! That's right, and we've made a list of a few you should try.

Pinball in your palm

Now that we've promoted playing games in person, let's go back to avoiding them. Pinball is a wonderful thing. A proper physical machine is an audio-visual treat with its many lights and sound effects accompanying the ricocheting of a tiny ball. But not everyone knows where to find their closest tables or has the time to do so. Thankfully, there are some pretty good pinball games on mobile to fill that void. Check out our list on PocketGamer.fun for some recommendations.

Game of the Week

Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance

Ironhide Studios' latest tower defence in their popular series recently released, and it's a great time. Building on the previous instalments, it offers the usual brand of humour we've come to love alongside the gameplay loop of a relaxing start that builds into a frantic finish as enemies increase in the later waves. If you want to learn more about the latest entry in the series, check out Will's Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance review.
