Kratos convinces us that bloodiness is indeed close to godliness

DS + PSP

'Baa-ba, Baa-ba, pa-Pa-Pa, pa-Pa-Pa, pa-Pa-pa, pa-Pa-Ba' Yes, you're already tapping your toes to what's commonly known as 'the most ferocious piece of music in existence', evoking as it does a battle scene of immense proportion with a signature 5/4 metre that changes to 5/2, ending in 3/4, and threatening throughout blatant dissonance.

Of course, we're referring to Gustav Holst's majestic Mars, The Bringer of War, surely the only piece of music worthy of introducing what we're happy to label the best action game yet released for PSP: God of War: Chains of Olympus.

So for that alone it's a significant week when it comes to the handheld titles hitting UK retailers' shelves. But there are other releases worth pointing out. Some Solid Snake fans will, no doubt, be picking up Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus, while on DS there's a wide range of genres, including the surely cute Bunnyz and Hurry Up Hedgehog!, the head-scratching NEVES and the possibly amusing Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys.

But make the most of it. In comparison, next week is a space fit for only tumbleweeds. Unless you're a big fan of The Sun Crossword.
