High street insiders claim 3DS 'all but sold out' in the UK
PG employees discover there are 'plenty in stock'

According to MCV's contacts on the British high street, demand among consumers for the Nintendo 3DS has dramatically increased as of late, to the point where the Metallic Red edition of the handheld is "all but sold out".
To verify this, we undertook a highly scientific piece of research. Yes, we contacted a few of our local bricks-and-mortar video game stores.
GAME onFirst up for the PG undercover treatment was GAME, Bluewater (the fourth-largest shopping centre in the UK).
A bright and breezy sales assistant answered our simple "Are there any 3DS consoles in stock, please?" in the following fashion:
"We've got loads of 3DS units in stock. Red, white, blue, and black. All models. All available." Pretty definitive, huh?
In Stock(port)The second branch of GAME to be 'interrogated' by a member of our editorial team was the Stockport store. Guess what? Same story. "We've got plenty of the 3DS in stock."
So, what can we conclude from this morning's impromptu 3DS field research?
Well, if you live in North Kent or Greater Manchester, there's a 3DS out the back just waiting for you to snaffle it up.
Oh, and that while consumer interest in the 3DS has no doubt intensified as a result of Super Mario 3D Land dropping recently, there are probably still loads to go around. At least for the moment.
