DS + PSP

It's a mark of how different the publishers think the DS and PSP markets are these days that few games are released on both platforms any more. It's really only the movie licences (Iron Man) or the likes of FIFA and Pro Evolution, that are supported in this way.

So it's good to see the almost simultaneous release of Lego Indiana Jones: The Video Game. The DS version is out this week, with the PSP version to follow next. As considering the quality of the previous Lego Star Wars games on both platforms, we'd expect them to be great – if slightly different – experiences.

As for other releases, it's most pleasing to see some PSP games turning up in shops. Like the first game, Everybody's Golf 2 provides some excellent pick-up-and-play moments, while next week, PDC World Championship Darts 2008 should appeal to its niche audience; although we doubt it could be as much fun as last year's Touch Darts on DS.

During the eight-day period, there are plenty of games spread across plenty of different genres out for DS, too. After Indy, the most high profile is clearly the second Hannah Montana game, something for those tweens who have already worked their way through last month's High School Musical 2.

Also out next week is another movie tie-in, The Incredible Hulk, while Eidos's Soul Bubbles looks interesting, too, if our previous hands-on with the game is anything to go by.

Still, for the time being, we're contented with spending our hours collecting ancient trinkets and cracking that Lego whip.
