Need for Speed: Most Wanted crashes into the App Store from midnight tonight

Need for Speed: Most Wanted has just broken through a police barricade and sped straight into the New Zealand App Store, which means it'll be tearing up tarmac in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.

EA's latest racer sees you jump behind the wheel of one of 35 high-powered vehicles (including the SRT Viper GTS and Porsche 911 Carrera S) and attempt to outrun a relentless police pursuit while clashing with experienced street racers.

Cars are fully customisable and can be enhanced with various mods. Be sure to drive carefully, though, because these expensive imports can also be heavily damaged.

If you log into your Origin account, you can compete against your buddies for the top spot on the game's "wanted list". Your friends don't even have to be playing on the same platform as you. It's frictionless sharing, as Mark Zuckerberg might say.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted will set you back £4.99 / $6.99. We'll have a full review soon, but you're in safe hands - the game is by Real Racing developer Firemonkeys.

An Android version should be out sometime this week.
