BeaverTap's Mikey Hooks is the sequel to its Silver Award-winning platformer Mikey Shorts.

Guess what?

Yep, Mikey Hooks has just been approved by Apple's App Store team, and will be swinging its way over to the App Store on August 8th.

In this much-anticipated follow-up, BeaverTap has added a new grappling hook mechanic to the super-fast platforming of the first game.

We were big fans of the original, heaping praising on it at review.

In fact, we said that "this is a game about dedication, patience, training, and sliding along on your knees like a six-year-old on a sugar rush who's just spied freshly-polished linoleum."

That means we've got high hopes for this retro-styled sequel, which looks to be even more difficult than its predecessor. Things can kill you now, too, you see. Oh, and they probably will.

There are six environments to work your way through here, a variety of different enemies to dodge, and plenty of gold coins to collect.

We don't have long to find out whether Mikey Hooks is going to live up to our lofty expectations. We'll let you know when we've got more info on pricing, by the way.
