Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker features tonnes of tie-ins

At Kojima Productions and Konami's press conference in Tokyo today, game director Hideo Kojima revealed a bevy of tie-ins and product placements that will be filtering into Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker when it hits PSP this June.

One collaboration, between Hideo Kojima and Capcom's Ryozo Tsujimoto, will see a bonus mode where Snake enters the world of Monster Hunter. With his selection of tools, knowledge of close quarters combat, and stealthy prowess, Snake will take out monsters, defeat enemies and do a spot of light cooking.

This mode will also feature multiplayer, so you can play co-operatively with a pal.

Another popular game that will be sneaking its way into Peace Walker is one of Kojima's favourites: Assassin's Creed. In fact, Kojima's April Fools gag video, which saw a Peace Walker character dive into a haystack like Ezio, wasn't a joke after all. The assassin straw box, which holds two players and can be used to drag in and knock out enemies, will feature in Peace Walker.

The Metal Gear series is no stranger to product placement. Peace Walker will be no different, as Konami general producer Kenichiro Imaizumi reeled off an exhaustive list of tie-in products that'll appear in the new PSP adventure.

There's Doritos, AXE Body Spray, Pepsi NEX, Mountain Dew, Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo, Sony Walkman and an assortment of magazines. Some of these objects will have real-life counterparts, too, such as a Peace Walker branded Walkman and unlock codes on Pepsi and Doritos products.

Finally, Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto announced a selection of Peace Walker character figures.
