Magic 2014 - Duels of the Planeswalkers coming to iPad and Android this summer

Last year, Wizards of the Coast and developer Stainless Games brought über-popular card-battling franchise Magic the Gathering to the iPad.

We called this debut iPad release a "superb strategy game that offers up a complete package of single-player and multiplayer card combat", and gave it a prestigious Gold Award.

Now, Wizards of the Coast is hoping to build on the success of Magic 2013 with follow-up Magic 2014, which will be available to download on iPad and - for the first time - Android this summer.

"The Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers franchise has been engaging and exciting gamers since we launched in 2009 and continues to be the best way for new players to learn how to play Magic," Worth Wollpert, Wizards of the Coast's executive producer, said.

"This year, with the addition of a fifth platform - Android - along with new features and a more focused integration between online and offline play, we continue to deliver a best-in-class gaming experience."

So, what's new?

There's a massive new storyline, for starters, as well as ten brand-new decks, 15 fresh encounters, and a whole bunch of new puzzle challenges.

We will, of course, let you know as soon as we have any more details. In the meantime, be sure to check out the handful of screenshots in our gallery above.
