Little Inferno was in a position to burn up the competition at tonight's 15th annual Independent Games Festival Awards, but instead it caused, well... a little inferno, really.

Nominated for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize along with the Award for Technical Excellence and the Nuovo Award, the Pocket Gamer Bronze Award-winning Little Inferno only walked away with a win for Technical Excellence.

Other Pocket Gamer award winners, Year Walk and Super Hexagon, were nominated for separate IGF Awards, but also came away empty-handed.

The big winners for this year were the monochromatic food vendor sim Cart Life - which won the Seumas McNally Grand Prize along with two other accolades - and the space strategy smash hit FTL: Faster Than Light, which won an award for Excellence in Design and the Audience Award.

We've been waiting for FTL: Faster Than Light to beam onto the iPad since the fall, so hopefully tonight's wins will help the developers branch out to less static platforms.
