Assumedly, you'll also level up

Kemco's latest JRPG Link of Hearts is a game where you quest for things and earn XP

If you're a fan of retro RPGs where 16-bit sprites never stop jogging in place and battles are fought in first-person, Kemco's got you covered.

Assuming that you're on Android, that is.

The latest Kemco-published JRPG, Link of Hearts, goes a bit deeper into the world of retro RPGs than usual and presents as hybrid third-person/first-person game.

While out on the overworld map, you'll navigate from a familiar, top-down view, but when battles start the perspective switches to an Etrian Odyssey-style, first-person screen.

No, not that Link

The story of Link of Hearts follows the timeless tale of a young boy, and young girl, and their battle-ready Android who can also apparently turn into an airship.

With the earth in crisis, the young girl hears the voice of a goddess and sets out to save the world. Meanwhile, miles away, a warrior named Mars receives a royal command from the King of Zezay and the story unfolds from these two different perspectives.

It's nothing we haven't seen from Kemco before - and comparisons to Bronze Award-winning Symphony of the Origin wouldn't be wide of the mark - but Link of Hearts looks like a great way to scratch your retro dungeon crawling itch.

Better still, it won't cost you a pile of gil either if you nab it during its 50 per cent off launch sale. Those interested can download Link of Hearts for $3.99 / £2.49.
