Pocket Gamer Advent Calendar 2016 - Legend of the Skyfish

I can almost smell the mulled wine, taste the mince pies, and feel the NES Mini controller gripped in my hand. Yes folks, Christmas is nearly upon us.

Pocket Gamer is bringing the festivity a little earlier to you this year though. Each day throughout December, we're giving away free codes for the best premium games which launched this year on mobile.

That's right - it's exactly like an Advent Calendar. It started on day one, and will run right up until Christmas day itself. For more information, check out the original post.

If you know the drill by now, stick around for all of the reasons why you should have played Legend of the Skyfish.

What's this Zelda with fish strap all about then?

That's a nice, compact way of describing Legend of the Skyfish, an action adventure chock full of combat, puzzles, and, errr, fish.

The innovation arrives in the form of an upgradeable fishing rod, which not only serves as your weapon, but allows you to pull yourself across gaps, and grab far away items.

This results in some pretty interesting puzzles which keep you, errr, hooked right until the end.

At review, we gave Legend of the Skyfish an admirable Gold Award and said: "Legend of the Skyfish is a veritable tribute to the 2D adventure genre while trying something new".

Okay, reel me in

Nice. If you want a chance at a free code, simply join the App Army here, then write your name as it appears on Facebook in the comments.

We'll then distribute codes to the lucky winners within one working day, and announce you all in a post on Pocket Gamer.

We only have iOS codes for this one though, so sadly Androiders will miss out. Next time!

The App Army is Pocket Gamer's very own community of mobile game experts. Each week, we provide them with a bunch of free codes and early access to the hottest upcoming games so they can provide their thoughts in features like this. We also host regular community-driven events with them in mind like tournaments, giveaways, and multiplayer evenings. To join, simply follow this link to the page on Facebook and request access. We'll get you in right away!
