The Gold Award-winning Kiwanuka is one of the more memorable games we've played this year on iOS. That's down to its challenge of building a bridges out of living people.

For that, and other reasons, Kiwanuka is a game about togetherness.

"There's an expression, I don't know where it's from, but it explains that 'if you want to go somewhere fast, go there alone, but if you want to go far, go there together'," Andrew Lim of developer CMA Megacorp told PocketGamer.biz.

Lim wasn't using that quotation to talk about Kiwanuka's gameplay, though. No, he was referring to how the three person team behind it managed to make it in the first place.

Stress out

As it turns out, making such a special mobile game was very stressful for CMA Megacorp. While the many prototypes and having to kill their darlings didn't break the trio, the polishing of Kiwanuka almost did.

"There's this image of being really stressed out and continuously pushing, but that doesn't actually help. When you're trying to do something well, you need to be relaxed," Lim said to PocketGamer.biz.

"We started meditating, and we started doing Yoga, while our design director became incredibly interested in Psychology. You almost have to get into a zen like state to carry on without making mistakes, because when you panic, you just think 'oh, let's just put IAPs in, because that way we'll get more money."

"You do start wondering if you should conform to what other games are like, because that's less risky. In reality though, that's total rubbish. You need to be able to push that fear out, and we were able to do that thanks to the support we got from our family and friends."

As you can tell, the whole read has quite a heartening touch to it. CMA Megacorp made a game about a family helping each other out due to their own families' support.

You can check out the whole interview with Lim, who talks about the entire development of Kiwanuka, over on PocketGamer.biz.
