UK-based indie developer Hello Games has today published a couple of screenshots and announced a tentative release date of "this autumn" for its upcoming iPhone and iPad adaptation of popular PS3 title Joe Danger.

"We're incredibly excited to finally be able to show people Joe Danger for iPhone, iPod, and iPad," Sean Murray, the company's founder, said.

"This has been a secret pet project of mine for quite a while, which I'm delighted to let the world see for the first time. It's such an amazing opportunity for us to be able to reach all those millions of beautiful iOS gamers".

Back in April, we told you that Joe Danger for iOS, which will be "very different" from the console entry, will feature a reworked control scheme. Well, we now have details of that: you'll swipe Joe to make him pop a wheelie, tap your screen to make him jump, and hold to make him crouch.

"This is a very different Joe Danger experience. It's a completely new game, with entirely unique mechanics. This isn't a dumbed down version, it stays true to the core arcade ideas of the original, with the same lovely aesthetics, solid framerate, and tight controls. It's a console-quality game in your hands," Murray added.

Look out for Joe Danger on iOS this autumn.
