Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law swooping in on PSP

Popular TV show to make its case in video game form

Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law swooping in on PSP

On paper, if you ever required the services of a solicitor you'd probably pick the one whose CV included a stint as a superhero. But as with everything else in life, in practice this could easily backfire.

You could end up with Harvey Birdman, for instance, whose superhero credentials are questionable at the best of times. As, it turns out, are his abilities as a lawyer.

And therein lies the comedic premise for the animated TV show, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, which currently airs as part of the Adult Swim network (the home of a number of animated series for young adults in the US).

Spotting an opportunity to bring this popular humourous series to video game form (a PlayStation 2 version is also in the works), Capcom is working on an interactive story that requires player participation, rather than opting for a challenge-based structure that needs to be beaten. As such, each case in the game is a self-contained story, incorporating the characters, settings and off-beat comedy that fans of the series would expect.

Throughout the game you guide Harvey through a number of odd and amusing cases, in which the eponymous attorney must prove his client's innocence. Obviously you'll need to explore the crime scene, gather evidence, chat to fellow cartoon characters, and even have the odd drink with opposing council in order to then crush the testimony of the prosecution witnesses like a mere paper cup.

Think DS' Phoenix Wright (also made by Capcom) but in PSP widescreen.

Which sounds like it could be fun, frankly. With an expected autumn release, clearly we'll reserve judgement until we're given further facts and this effectively means we'll have to adjourn for a while (but you can click 'Track It!' to be alerted the moment we make a new statement).
