Gamevil levels up with longterm deal for Dark Avenger dev Boolean
The M&A chain combo builds
Korean publisher Gamevil has continued its M&A activity in 2014 with an investment in Dark Avenger developer Boolean Games.
The size of the investment in the Korean studio hasn't been disclosed.
However, as part of the deal, Gamevil now has a long-term partnership with Boolean and has publishing rights for future titles.
A darker dungeonThe first of these will be the sequel to Dark Avenger. The MMORPG has been downloaded more than 10 million times, and is currently ranked #7 on Qihoo 360, one of China's largest Android app stores.
In total, the game has generated more than $10 million in revenue, with Gamevil promising to spend big on marketing and user acquisition to ensure the sequel is equally successful.
Over the past 12 months, Gamevil has made similar equity deals with developers in Korea, Europe and Asia such as Relax Games, DBROS, GMT Soft, Ocean View, Brainz and Zadzen, also buying Everple and Nine Wheels outright and gaining a controlling stake in rival Korean publisher Com2uS.
