No mobile list would be complete without FIFA's latest effort. Now, while it's not perfect (seriously, where's career mode, seasons, exhibition matches - anything outside of Ultimate Team?!) when you're playing, it's a glorious and unparalleled mobile representation of the sport.
It even runs on the very same engine as FIFA 16 on consoles and PC, so you're really not missing much if you only have a mobile device. You'll need a controller to have the best experience though.

If you lament the lack of modes in FIFA 16, then look no further than Dream League Soccer 16. It doesn't play quite as well, but lets you build your own dream team and take it through the ranks right to the top - even challenging national teams.
You can even upload your own custom kits and rename your team. So if you want to basically recreate Newcastle United and lead the club to glory, who's going to stop you.

If you had aspirations of being a professional footballer yourself (but then grew up and ended up stacking shelves in Co-Op all your life) New Star Soccer is basically therapy.
You play as an up-and-coming footballer training up to be the next big thing. You also take control during key moments in matches, and play that killer pass, score a vital goal, or intercept the ball that was about to leave your defence wide open.
Oh, and you can take control of your player's life as well, and buy him a new iPhone. That's nice.

Pixel Cup Soccer 16
Pixel Cup Soccer 16 will appeal to fans who prefer their football games in a retro arcade cabinet. It simulates that classic experience admirably, and provides a fun kick about for those who don't take the sport too seriously.
It also features support for a number of different competitions, including the Women's World Cup and even this year's European Cup in France.

Tiki Taka Soccer
Another arcade offering, Tiki Taka Soccer invites you create your own team, employ staff, assign a bunch of tactics, and then lead them to league glory.
The controls have been built from the ground up for touchscreen and it results in silky, smooth gameplay. Essentially, it's Dream League Soccer 2016 if it didn't take itself seriously.

If you were looking for something equally ridiculous, try Pelé: Soccer Legend. You dress up the famous football icon Pelé in a bunch of wacky costumes and then complete over 150 different challenging levels, using a variety of different boosters to help you.
There's multiplayer as well, so you can play it with your friends at halftime.

Goal Finger is a simultaneous turn-based offering that can be played solo or against your friends. You pick a series of moves in an attempt to get the ball in the back of the net and then watch them play out in real time.
The problem is, your opponent is also doing the same thing, so your moves may not go according to plan. There's plenty of depth here, as you can upgrade all of your player's abilities, recruit new players, and even fully customise your kit.
