Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, the found phone game from the developer of Simulacra, will release for iOS and Android in March
It will also release for Steam on the same day
Following the announcement back in October, Maze Theory and BBC Studios have announced that their found phone game, Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins will release for iOS, Android and Steam on March 19th.
While it's easy to be sceptical of a 'found phone' Doctor Who game, it's worth noting that it has been developed in partnership with Kaigan Games who were responsible for the excellent SIMULACRA and Sara is Missing. Hopefully, that pedigree combined with one of the more interesting villains Doctor Who has introduced since its reboot results in another excellent title from this experienced developer.
It features the iconic villains the Weeping Angels who have escaped from the basement prison in Wester Drumlins where the tenth doctor left them. They possess the ability to infiltrate technology, making them an even bigger threat in a world where people are constantly perusing their phones.
To tackle these old enemies, players will team up with ex-UNIT scientist Petronella Osgood (with Ingrid Oliver reprising her role). The game starts with you finding a discarded phone that you'll have to pour through to uncover the secrets it holds alongside learning about its former owner.
That means looking through various chat logs and searching through a myriad of different in-game apps for clues about how to deal with the Weeping Angels. Osgood will be on hand to help you on this adventure and you can check out the trailers above for a glimpse of what to expect from the story in Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins.
