Limited edition Dissidia: Final Fantasy PSP bundle announced for Japan

You might remember this time last year Square Enix announcing a new PSP game to coincide with the Final Fantasy series' 20th anniversary. Dissidia: Final Fantasy is an action game in which players will be able to play one-on-one battles as a range of characters (both protagonists and antagonists) from Final Fantasy games I to X, in both single-player modes and online battles.

Well, more news has now materialised on the game. Including news of its release date in Japan, which has been confirmed for December and, courtesy of PSP Fanboy, news on a limited edition game bundle similar to the Crisis Core one released recently in both Japan and Europe.

The game is said to feature at least ten main characters from the Final Fantasy series, and villains and possibly hidden characters, as well. All characters will be upgradable with extra equipment and experience and gil is earned as you progress.

As ever though, there's no news on whether the game will be ever get released outside of Japan. But we remain hopefully it will, albeit probably some months after Japan.

In the meantime, why not occupy yourself by entering the Pocket Gamer Crisis Core: Final Fantasy competition? Any of the winners is likely to be busy until Dissidia decides to turn up on our continent.

Oh, we ought to mention that as well as the Dissidia announcement, Square Enix revealed it will be releasing Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday onto PSP at some point in Japan. Which means Square is nothing if not proficient in its support of PSP – no surprise seeing as the console is the leading hardware in Japan.
