The new game from indie studio Simogo - of Beat Sneak Bandit and Year Walk fame - is nearly here.

The Swedish firm's mysterious psychological puzzler DEVICE 6 will go live on the UK and US App Stores at midnight.

In the game, you follow amnesic heroine Anna, who wakes up on a mysterious island. She'll have to solve a bunch of riddles and conundrums to navigate the island... and hopefully find a way off.

Part-puzzle game, part-interactive fiction, DEVICE 6 is ostensibly a text adventure, though the narrative is laid out like a map.

As Anna wanders down corridors, the paragraphs are written on single spindly lines. When she reaches a room, the words fit into a nice rectangle of words.

You'll also find yourself spinning your iPhone in circles and holding it on its head as corridors bend off at right angles and you stumble upon forks in the road.

As in Year Walk, the puzzles here involve involve cryptic symbols, numbers, combinations, and passwords. You'll have to traipse back and forth through these word maps while on the hunt for clues.

It should be good. I mean, the puzzles are excellent, the '60s-style visual design is fab, and the unnerving The Prisoner-inspired sci-fi story will keep you glued to your phone. If that doesn't convince you, we'll have a full review up on the site tomorrow.

DEVICE 6 is a Universal app for iPhone and iPad. It will set you back £2.49 / $3.99 once it hits the UK and US App Stores at about midnight.
