Capcom's publicity stunt for quite-forgettable console jet-pack-'em-up Dark Void was pretty creative.

Originally released on DSiWare, Dark Void Zero was apparently a 20-year-old lost NES game that the console shooter was based on. Never before released, Capcom unearthed this 'classic' and resurrected it for portable gamers.

The publisher also somehow tied American chat show host Jimmy Fallon into the complicated lie, fabricating the story of little Jimmy winning a place in the game, as well as the only known copy of the title. According to developer Other Ocean, that was all to make it more "authentic", Joystiq reports.

Anyway, the game has now made its way to the iPhone, complete with OpenFeint support for leaderboards and achievements. There are three levels, five weapons and even a secret ending just for iPhone gamers.

"Concerned about twitch gameplay on iPhone?" the description reads (someone's been playing Mega Man 2 on iPhone), "Don’t be." That's reassuring. Apparently the touchscreen controls have been carefully refined to keep the experience precise.

Dark Void Zero is out now on iPhone and iPod touch for £1.79 or $2.99.
