Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair coming to Vita in Europe and US this autumn

Well, that didn't take long.

Not three days after NIS America released the Silver Award-winning Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, the publisher announced that its sequel - Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - will come to the US and Europe this autumn.

Similar in style to Trigger Happy Havoc, Goodbye Despair features another unfortunate group of students who are kidnapped and subjected to the twisted and perverse trials of the two-toned teddy bear, Monokuma.

There's one major difference this time around, Hope's Peak Academy is nowhere to be seen. Instead, the action - and murders - unfold on the tropical resort of Jabberwock Island.

While each of the all new cast of characters is still the ultimate paragon of something, they've all been given a uniquely 'darker take' on the traditional anime style.

As with Trigger Happy Havoc, the gamplay is one-half Ace Attorney and one-half Zero Escape - meaning, you'll be investigating a mystery and debating with your classmates in equal measures.

Each debate is a life-or-death affair amongst a tribal council, with Monokuma standing by to pass judgment on the guilty party.

In our review of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, we called it "a visual novel unlike any other" and thought its dark themes and fast-paced, cerebral challenges would make it "a surefire crowd-pleaser for the intellectually inclined Vita owner."

We'll keep you updated with a release date for Goodbye Despair as soon as we have it.
