Boxing Star gets three new fantasy-inspired protective gear and more in new update

Boxing Star, Thumbage's Punch Out-style mobile sports game, has unveiled new protective gear and improvements to their Master League. All three are fantasy-inspired, themed after the familiar elf, dwarf and orc characters we've seen in so many games, films and books. Keep an eye on the elf mouthguard as well, which lets you increase your critical hit chance after dodging an opponent's attack.
Meanwhile, changes to the Master League system will allow you to access more detailed match results after finishing your bouts. This will give you info like the actual match time, how many knockdowns were received or given and more. All of this and more as delivered by a weirdly-animated, AI-voiced old man.
But jokes aside, if you're a new or returning player, you'll be glad to know this new update also comes alongside the requisite growth event. The New Protection Gear Growth Event will let you earn rewards by achieving specific conditions whilst using the new protective gear.
Aside from the rather disturbing trailer (you'd think they'd have just dispensed with the voice-over) this new protective gear is certainly an unusual addition. But it's a welcome change from seeing some more generic gear, or tie-ins, that tend to flood sports games. And the new Master League improvements are sure to help out those of you who're devoting plenty of time to mastering (pun intended) Boxing Star.
