Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition won't be out this week, after all

But, Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition is on the cards

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition won't be out this week, after all

The iPad edition of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition has been delayed - again - on account of a show-stopping crash bug in the app's final build.

The remake's creative director, Trent Oster, told his Twitter followers that the game had to be re-submitted to Apple, pushing the much-anticipated RPG to the back of the approval queue.

"With current estimate for App Store approval, that puts us into next week," Oster says. "We're doing all we can. We aren't going home until the new build is submitted."

This will affect the release of the Android version, too. "Our current crash is cross-platform, so the fixes are for all platforms," Oster says. The Android version does not currently have a release date attached to it.

When Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition finally hits the App Store, you'll find a faithful port of the critically acclaimed '90s role-player Baldur's Gate - by Mass Effect creator BioWare - albeit with new characters, plenty of improvements, and a whole extra chapter.

And once Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is out, Oster plans to get straight on with revamping its sequel, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows Of Amn.

He told Red Bull that "the instant Baldur's Gate is completed most of our team is ready to start work on [the sequel], with a couple [team members] holding back to continue to add features and support the fans."
