Mucho Party has a lot going for it. It's a slick, cartoony mix of same-screen multiplayer games. Each of these mini-games is a fast burst of silly PvP, with the added bonus that you can literally push your opponent over if it looks like you're going to lose.

Yesterday it came third at the Pocket Gamer Connects Very Big Indie Pitch in Helsinki. That's no mean feat, even if we do say so ourselves.

And best of all, if you're not one of the people who were at the VBIP (shame on you) you don't have long to wait until you can get your hands on the game. It's set to hit the App Store this Thursday.

There are 30 games in total, and each of them tasks you with doing something a little bit different.

One of them sees you pummelling nails into a board with a series of taps, another is all about tapping footsteps in time to a tango rhythm.

There are driving games, air-hockey-style games, clever variations on old concepts, and new ideas that feel fresh and vibrant.

The game supports up to eight players in a variety of different modes, and you unlock more as you play.

There's even adaptive difficulty. New players play a quick game of solo whack-a-mole to test their skills, and the games they play change subtly depending on how well they do.

And you create your own in-game avatar with a trio of selfies. One showing you sad, one showing you happy, and one showing you "normal".

The music is by Whitaker Trebella of Pivvot and Polymer fame, and the tunes perfectly fit the vaguely crazed play that often occurs when you're taking on friends.

Mucho Party is set to land on the App Store on Thursday, and when it does it'll set you back £2.49 / $3.99.

If you're looking for a game to play with some friends, that sounds like a pretty good deal. Especially if you get them to bring the snacks.
