Out at midnight: Solve a murder in Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse on iPhone and iPad

The first half of Revolution Software's globe-trotting point-and-click adventure game Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse will go live on the UK and US App Stores at around midnight tonight.

Well, I say 'globe-trotting'. In reality, heroes George and Nico merely bounce back and forth between Paris and London in this opening act.

As you can imagine, this was a major bone of contention in our 6/10 review of the Vita version.

"This isn't Indiana Jones. This is Miss Marple with a Eurostar ticket," we said, noting that this meandering first half only features "insurance fraud and a bland whodunnit murder".

The more exotic locales and set pieces are promised in part two, you see.

Broken Sword 5

Broken Sword 5 got funded on Kickstarter last year, but was split into two halves so the game could get a 2013 release (on PC, at least).

The second part is due out later this year, and is currently pencilled in for release this winter (on PC, at least).

When Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse goes live on the App Store tonight, it will be a Universal app for iPhone and iPad, and will cost £2.99 / $4.99.

Revolution Software will release part two "shortly" as an in-app purchase later this year.
