Incoming! The most exciting 3DS and PS Vita games for July
|

In truth, July isn't looking like the best of months for PS Vita gamers.

In fact, if you live in Europe, there's every chance your 'New Vita Games' cupboard / folder will be very bare next month.

However, Sony is expecting plenty of new titles - including Luftrausers and Spelunky - to debut in the "summer". Which, you know, could potentially mean July. We'll just have to wait and see.

Right now, though, July is looking much brighter for fans of the Nintendo 3DS, with multiple big-name titles scheduled to go on sale over the next four weeks.

Let's check the most noteworthy ones out now, then, eh...

Project X Zone
By Banpresto and Monolith Soft - coming to 3DS on July 5th in the UK

This one is already out in the US. Early reviews indicate that it's a fairly good crossover tactical-RPG, featuring characters from Namco Bandai, Capcom, and Sega games.

So, yeah, expect playable characters from Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Tekken, Space Channel 5, Darkstalkers... and the list goes on.

Definitely worth looking out for.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
By AlphaDream - coming to 3DS on July 12th in the UK, and August 11th in the US

The Mario & Luigi RPG series is by far my favourite Mario spin-off franchise. These games are always hilarious, hugely entertaining, and chock-full of depth.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is being co-developed by AlphaDream, the studio behind the glorious Bowser's Inside Story and Partners in Time. I have no doubt, then, that this new game will be another corker.

This time around, Peach has been pulled into Luigi's dreams, so Mario is forced to enter Luigi's dreams to save her. Ker-azy.

Shin Megami Tensei IV
By Atlus - coming to 3DS on July 16th in the US

The Shin Megami Tensei RPG games are sprawling, gorgeous, and wonderful. And we cannot wait for #4 to drop.

You play a Middle Ages samurai on a mission to stop a mysterious enemy from turning people into demons.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait until later this year for this to go on sale in Europe. And with Atlus's parent company going bankrupt earlier this month, we're praying harder than we've ever prayed before.

Turbo: Super Stunt Squad
By D3 Publisher - coming to 3DS on July 16th in the US

You probably haven't heard of this one before. That's because it's a movie tie-in for the upcoming Dreamworks animated film Turbo.

Apparently, it's all about racing snails. So, you explore environments, complete objectives, and, of course, do some racing.

It doesn't have a European release date yet, but I don't think anyone is going to lose sleep over that.

Velocity Ultra + Coconut Dodge Revitalised
By Futurlab - coming to PS Vita on July 2nd and July 9th in the US

Sure, we got our hands on teleporting shmup Velocity Ultra and dodge-a-thon Coconut Dodge Revitalised last month here in Europe, but let's not boast.

Don't worry, though, Americans: Velocity Ultra is definitely worth the wait. It's all that fast-paced space action and huge style, you see.

Coconut Dodge Revitalised, meanwhile, isn't quite so entertaining, but it's worth grabbing if it's available for free to PS Plus subscribers.
